"Spare yet vivid, the songs of Nandina pair Matt
Bauer's rich vocal with drifting antique banjo lines
from another time.A Kentucky transplant,Bauer's now a Bay
Area dweller who ties Southern musical traditions to those of
contemporary, local folk revivalists. Kindling the kind
of warm folk that fellow San Franciscan Jolie Holland
revitalizes, and meshing it with the darker explorations
of The Court & Spark or Virgil Shaw, Matt Bauer drifts
down his own inlet."

"Here's a bit of trivia I learned the hard way: Judith and
Holofernes make excellent hangover music. With their mellow,
acoustic strumming, they provide the perfect, slightly
repentant/slightly miserable mood music for any post-binge recovery.
Recommended usage: your painkiller of choice, plenty of H2O, a good
pillow and Dairymen & Festa Queens. However, in the likely event
that you weren't stupid enough to drink two bottles of wine last
night, there are still plenty of reasons to appreciate the album.
Judith and Holofernes create a style of music they like to
call "fadocore" -- a combination of quieter indie rock and
Portuguese folk."

Kitten on the Keys!

"Kitten on the Keys is a popular local performer whose satirical songs and campy costumes are a cocktail of drag-queen drama and Las Vegas glitz. A burlesque performer since 1999, Suzanne Ramsey started out as a pianist for the Cantankerous Lollies before taking Kitten on the Keys solo about year and a half ago. With a homemade sequined sign attached to her electronic piano and a nearby trunk full of props, Kitten creates over-the-top personas that are as colorful as her wigs.

Transforming her Kewpie-doll face with each song, one moment she is a precocious girl with a conniving grandmother, the next a neurotic thirtysomething dumpling who laments weight gain and sexual frustration, singing, "Why did I eat so much bacon? / Why do I look like a shar-pei? / Oh no no no no no / It's not a pretty princess day."

Miss Henry

In Amsterdam she was "dubbed the Queen of the Vondel Park for her
full throated open air singing" Time Out Magazine, while Orr (Ear)
music magazine called her voice a "deep rich voice not to be missed"
when singing with the Dutch band First Contact. In Europe, MISS
HENRY sings with Charlie Hunter, Christian Mc Bride to Kenny Drew
Sr. and Clark Terry. While her focus is jazz and blues she flows
into soul standards in her current shows. But her stand up comedy
is what keeps audiences entertained between songs as no singer takes
herself less seriously when doing swim solos on the bar stool for
visuals during piano solos. Her shows are all about having fun and
making good music.

Kate and Kurt Stevenson (Neighborly Deeds)
Danny Pearson (American Music Club)
Chris Von Sneidern
Micheal Zapruder
Mark Matos (Campo Bravo)

Kate and Kurt Stevenson-
This singing couple have a band called "Neighborly
Deeds" and have been playing in the bay area for many
years. They sing sweet sounding ballads with a old
cosy country kinda feeling.

Danny Pearson-
Long time bay area musician and a man who loves the
outdoors. Danny plays with the recently reunited band American Music
Club. His songs are dreamy stories telling tales of love, life and leaving.
www.americanmusicclub.com

Chris Von Sneidern-
Orginally from Syracuse New York; he eventually took
his talents to the Bay Area. Chris has about eight or
nine recordings and has been playing in the bay area
since 1993. His latest release is Headful of Words,
the best of CVS Vol. #1. His Music is a blend of power
pop poetry with elements of soul and R&B.

"Michael Zapruder is part of a rare breed, able to
weave sophisticated lyrics into sophisticated songs
without losing our interest or bagging the whole thing
in some Dylan-esque mad-grab for attention. Zapruder's
not vying for some dime-a-dozen "new Dylan" tag like
so many of that ilk. There's an ache in his voice and
a cut to the cloth of his electric guitar and
elaborate grand piano that's more Hunky Dory-Bowie and
similarly grandiose glam, and might fit on either of
Nick Cave's last two records. One of Zapruder's recent
projects was a yearlong journal in which he produced a
song per week. If there were any cliches or laspes in
writing judgement left in Zapruder, cathartic
exercises like this seem to have exorcised them.

Mark Matos- (Campo Bravo)
"A fine songwriter who... invoked the cracked tones of
Will Oldham. Highlights were many and included a take
on 'My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys' done so slowly
and prettily, it made you wonder why Waylon didn't do
it that way to begin with."
- Stephen Siegel, Tucson Weekly
