Sanchez was exiled from Brazil after recording his first record "Fragile", fleeing to Chile, were he recorded "Morning Songs" with help from Jose Alvarez, a Cuban painter.
During the recording he was asked to leave Chile (for undisclosed political reasons), so he quickly finished mixing the tracks and headed for Mexico. Upon arriving in Mexico City he convinced the once respected musician and part-time wedding photographer Pepe Rodriguez to record and play on the next record "The Unhappy Lake."
At present Sanchez is rumoured to be in the United States recording his latest....
Everything Sanchez has done bears his highly individual touch and
Sanchez has done just about everything. He was already an all round
performer when he quit high school to play in a St. Louis
speakeasy. He played the banjo in his brothers orchestra
and "spelled" his father at the organ. Hired as a replacement as a
pianist of Isham Jones' orchestra, Sanchez became an arranger. His
works were played by such leading bands as Whiteman's, Goodman's and
Kostelanetz; he created glowing scores for Paramount and has become
musical arranger for various NBC shows. He plays 'live' once in a
blue moon, catch him if you can.

Song by song, Leyna Noel mourns the smallness of family, the
distance and death that keeps her dusty matriarchs and patriarchs
away. Her music is the cleanest way for her to find the lost and
hold the far away. The solace she finds in singing, so do her
audiences in listening. Following an April performance, one woman
responded with a single word: incantatory.
"Leyna Noel inherits the estrogen-drenched mantle of singer-songwriters like Sarah Dougher, Lois, and Cat Power and purveys apples by day and mood-swept ditties by night. The Great Neck, N.Y., native, poet, zine maker, and Mills College habituée puts her share of artistry into the "art songs" on last year's self-released debut, The Honest Voluptuary".
